Parents home burglarized - crazy world!

This past weekend, my parents farmhouse was burglarized while they were out....my dad messed up and left no lights left on in house and had went out...he usually leaves lights on as a deterent. The thiefs (2 of them) went around the section in their truck and drove back into a neighbors field and then walked on foot 3/4 mile through a corn field and a wheat field to get to the house. They came in the back way...we could track their prints back to the field. Parents found muddy shoe prints in house still wet when they got home....took a good deal of cash and old coins.......what can a person do? This is in NorthWest Ohio - and this usually doenst happen in the area..but seems a lot more lately...what is this world coming too!
How can we track these punks down? Any ideas?
