JT, Please fill this Texan in on what a firearms owners ID card is. Also what is a FOID card? Where are you located? I sure don't mean to sound like a smart *** but this is all new to me. We don't have to have any ID or card except if we have a Concealed Handgun License. Can buy shells as long as you are over 21 and a gun with a 5 day waiting period. If you have a CHL (Concealed Handgun License) there is no wait to get a gun as you have already passed the background check. One strange thing about the CHL is I can go into a gunshop with a police officer and I can buy a gun and walk out. If he don't have a CHL he has to wait the 5 days.
