A few years ago here, there was a run of B& E's in our area. A local detective noticed that the crimes were committed during the day. He got attendance reports from the local schools, and correlated the absenteeism to the crime. Then it was a matter of watchung those individuals. It took about a week. They confessed to 42 burglaries! The police said that isn't unusual. Frequently it is a neighbor kid or even a relative. A friend of mine had an extensive gun collection stolen by his own son, who had drug problems. Another had his property stolen by his ex wife's kids.
