Seems high to me, but maybe I'm just not with it. A 93 could have a 6.2 or a 6.5. I wouldn't want it for towing if it has the 4 sp. overdrive automatic. T-400 is much better. I was looking for a truck for half a year. I've got three trucks with Chevy 6.2 diesels and I love them. They are a bit underpowered, and all of mine run too hot when pulling trailers up hills in hot weather. On the plus side,though, I've got 150K, 170K, and 450K miles on them. I think the one with 450,000 mile is just a freak, though. It still runs perfect, but I'm always waiting for something to happen.
Anyway, I've wanted to get something heavier, and also now need an extended cab (new baby, wife, and dog). I was also trying to find a truck with a full lengh 8' bed, which is kind of rare with the extended cab. So, ex-cab, 8' bed, 4WD, at least 3/4 ton, diesel, and a HD transmission. Just about everything I found had 180K up to 250K miles on it, and was over $7,000. Seems silly to me, most trucks are pretty well wipped with mileage that high. I was also hoping to find a truck that was old enough to have mechanical fuel injection which is more reliable than the newer stuff and cheaper to work on. My ideal truck would have been a 93 or 94 Chevy or GMC with a 6.5, but I gave up looking.
I wound up buying an 85 Ford with a 6.9 and 65,000 original miles - for $2500. Full 8' bed, ex-cab, 4WD, heavy duty C-6 transmisson, hitch, and 8,600 lb. GVRW. I swore I'd never own a Ford, but, oh well.
