88 Chev truck little heat

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get more heat out of the heater on an "88" Chevy truck.
I've changed the thermostat, Flushed out the core
even cleaned the leaves out of the ductwork, and the thing just doesn't seem to throw enough heat
all the blower doors work correctly the core gets hot, but what I think happens is that the blower is cooling off the core to a point where it only throws warm air.
any help will be greatly apprieciated.
