I recently made aquaintance with a lady that has a fordson dexta and she needs help getting it to run. I have been around john deere tractors, but know nothing of this one. I need some help in assisting this lady. She is being out alot of money on nursing home care for stepmother and cannot afford help. Problem is it will not start. When given a short blast of ether it will start, then die. I just read not to do this on fordson. It has had a new fuel pump installed. I tried priming it. But have gotten no fuel to injectors. I have not had much time to check this out. Fuel filter is full but I am not sure if it is going thru the fuel filter. No fuel is reaching the injectors. Should I be able to use the hand primer to get fuel to injectors if fuel filter is not plugged. Also I found and read alittle about the valve under the fuel tank. Cold weather valve? Would someone explain all about it to me. How do I determine what model this is.All I can find is Fordson dexta on the grill and an emblem on the front. What is horsepower? This appears outwardly to be a fair old tractor. They owner that died had just installed new rear tires on it, so I assume it was worthy enough to justify this. Overall Pretty straight. Just a little greasy. Apparantly an old paint job. Would appreciate a rough estimate of value? Thanks for any assistance Arnold
