Arnold, The seal in the pump would need to be replaced by a specialist repairer although it is possible to do yourself if you have a clean dust free room and a gear puller. You have a decision to make. Did your friends father change the oil? or is the diesel there from the previous problem. Pump work is very expensive so I think I would change the engine oil, fill with new and see if the problem re-occurs. The cost of the oil is far below the cost of getting the pump checked.
