Amsoil?

I'm sure this will bring many different opinions but here it goes. Is Amsoil really any better than a regular full synthetic oil like mobil 1 etc? Also I want to run synthetic in the kohler engine in my cub cadet. The engine has an unknown number of hours on it. But when I changed the head gasket there isnt any ridge on the cylindar and the bore is nice and clean. Will I have any problems running synthetic now when only regular oil was used before?
