Well, that is an old rumor. I just can't buy it. DC is smart enough to know the price of the name on the engine. If they moved away from a Cummins engine, it would be the death of that truck. Now, Ford's best move would be to get an engine from someone else. Get a good engine. Powerjokes are all they are. If they could put a different name on an Iveco, they could have a fuel effecient engine with a ton of power. But, its owned by Fiat group (CNH's parent). Plus, they are in a joint venture with Cummins to produce CNH engines, what you see in their equipment. So, what about Perkins. I saw a magazine article a few years back with a Dodge with a Perkins in it. But, Perkins has some tie in with CAT, but I can't remember what exactly it is. I wouldn't expect any changes in the near future. Will be interesting to see what the horsepower upgrades will be to the Powerjoke and the Cummins since the Duramax is going up to 360 hp in '06.
