OK what did I do wrong

Last night we were baling along like there was no problems in the world kicking out bale after bale at 50 lbs each and about 25 ft. between them. Looked great seeing those bales drop off like clockwork, then all of a sudden the pickup shear bolt sheared. No problem put in a new one. made about 30 more bales sheared again those darn cheap !@#$^&&$#$#@ Chinese junk they call bolts. OK found an old American bolt jury rigs it to fit (not the way I like to do things but it was late and I wanted to get that field done.)
started to bale and all of sudden it was not tying the left side. Took a look to see why and this is what I found. 
Now my question why it brake only one needle like this. had to hit something. If out of time then why not both needles. Will take a good look today but i got hay to bale so I'm going to try welding it back and see what happens.
