What you did wrong was replacing that shear bolt with a regular bolt and then busting more expensive items! The shear bolts are meant to shear. One thing always to remember, always look for the underlying problem. You have to ask yourself, WHY is the the bolt shearing? Not just, "the shear bolt broke, better put something stronger in there!". I speak out of experience by the way! I think we have all done something like this, not looking too far into the problem. Hope everything works out!
