Should I put my garage under my house? O.T.

Hi all, I need advice and thought of this place first. My wife and I have been pouring over house plans. Low interest rates are tempting me to act sooner than later. One plan under consideration has the 24'x25' garage under the main floor of the house, in the basement. It would fit right with our needs and house lot.
If any of you have this type of setup I'd like to hear weather you like it or not. Pros and cons. We live in northern Maine so heat loss might be a factor. Or will it?
Now this isn't completely off topic. You see, if I can save 8 or 10 grand by not having an attached garage the finance manager says I can have that heated shop to work on my tractor that I've been crying for!!
