What has been your most annoying waste of money? I have two. Not huge but they bug me. I've got an 87 Ford L8000 (road tractor) that was a Pepsi truck. It was the first semi on the farm. It has a short frame and turns on a dime. Its an automatic so anyone can drive it in the field or around the farm. It's great because you can get a hopper trailer just about anywhere with it. The injector pump went out on the 3208 Cat in it. I hated to waste $4000 having someone do it but I like the truck. If it didn't have new tires on it I would have junked it.
The other is a Farmall M. The motor was fairly well shot so I bought a kit from here and had the head redone. New bearings - everything I always do. About $1700 bucks. I got it back together and was not real impressed with the oil pressure. I got so mad at it I decided to buy another M and swap motors just to get it going. I paid $800 for an M and got it home only to realize it was much better than mine. Power steering, live hydraulics, and an engine that doesn't use any oil. I junked my M and am using the cheap tractor on the mixer grinder. The one with a brand new engine is sitting in the back corner of the shed. Hacks me off every time I walk past it.

Today's Featured Article - What Oil Should I Use? - by Francis Robinson. I keep seein this question pop up over and over again in discussion groups all over the web. Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
