Need opinions/advice - cracked H block...

OK, my block has cracks in 2 of the bores which I can catch my dental pick on. They start about 1 1/2# down the bore and stop about 2" from the bottom. My machinist said to put sleeve and bearing retainer/sealer on the top and bottom of the sleeve and forget about it. This is actually green locktite. He said if the cracks bother me I should take a punch and knock a hole out where the cracks are. I have talked to 3 other machinists in town and they all say the same thing, "seal it and forget it." The only person that said not to do it was the junkyard (probably so they could sell me a $125 block). I'm ready to do it. What do you guys think? Thanks
