I had the same problem with one of my '39 Hs (s/n 700) We decided to have the block bored, and a repair sleeve placed in the bore. Then the repair sleeve was resized to accept the H sleeve. I think it cost $150 for the one cylinder that we had to do. If you feel saving the serial number on the block is worth it, do what we had done. If it doesn't mean anything to you, a replacement would probably be cheaper.
