Jeff, When you convert a Mag. system to 12 volts, you do not have to do anything to the ignition system, that is totally separate from the starting system. All you have to do is convert your generator/alternator to 12 volts, and install a 12 volt battery, I always convert them to negative ground. I will try to find my diagram for conversion of a magneto system that I have used for years, and send it on to you. This is one of the simplest conversions that can be done.
