thanks, your words were helpful. It does have an alternator and a mag, so I'm figuring it's neg grnd. Original lights are still installed, but not hooked up. It has two things that I'd like to know more about: what are the settings on the little roundish box that's beside the steering post- has a little twist knob with L O D and some other letter- can't make it out.? Also, two switches are beside this- one is a kill switch, but I can't figure out what the other one is for.
