If you would have read the original post you would have seen he was using a 110 volt wire feed welder with flux-core and burning holes in the tank. He was asking how to set the welder as well. This makes it very clear that he should not even be attempting to weld a high pressure air tank. Puddles is a very experienced welder and he even says it's better to replace a rusted out air tank. You always seem to come along after someone has made an accurate post and agree with them instead of being the original poster. Hmmm? As far as flux-core goes, I bet it is used on some new air tanks. Like most types of welding there are many different types of flux-core wires. The small 110 welders use a very general purpose self shielded flux-core wire that isn't designed for high strength welds. When you get into gas shielded flux-cored wire, you have tons of different wires available for most applications. You're not bothered welding a high pressure vessel so answer me this, Why do air compressor tanks on new compressors have to be ASME certified and welded by certified pressure welders? Hint: It's not because someone just thought it was a good idea. Dave

Safe trailering practices and inspections will ensure that the event is a fun one. A good habit to develop when using a trailer is to give that ‘quick look over’ before taking it on a trip. Before hooking up to it check the tongue for proper operation. The latche
