Thanks to both of you...The New Holland dealer said there was a bushing that could be replaced and I am sure the cost is nominal but I didn't know how hard of a job it would be to replace and the chance of cracking the howsing or having other problems trying to swap it out. Obviously buying a whole new distributor that is in good shape is an option of the cost is low enough. I had heard of but had forgotten about the electronic conversion. The tractor was already modified to 12V and I installed the kit to convert it to an alternator. I would rather not spend $100 on it right now. Other than not dealing with points in an ongoing basis, just how much difference can it make vs. points? It is hard to imagine it can deliver the spark "better"? Is it actually changing the spark curve if that is the word to use. In other words does it change the spark duration or some other characteristic of the spark??
