I have not hooked an oscilloscope to the terminal to view the timing so I don't know how it compares to the dwell (on-off time) of ignition points. It must be a pretty fat pulse as it is so insensitive to distributor angular position. Better spark? Depends what you are talking about. It won't grow green gungie and corrode, won't pit, won't get set to the wrong gap, fires every time, not sensitive to timing (dwell). Those sound like excellent reasons to have better performance. Besides, if you order a 40,000 volt coil to replace your current 18,000 your engine will run smoother and idle like a diesel. Mark
