I've got an older ICP(same thing as a Heil or Tempstar) "horseshoe" packgage unit. I'm guessing this thing is around 20 years old, if not older. This thing looks like it's been thru the war...on multiple tours(we bought the house, a forclosure, 3 years ago and was surprised to find that it actually worked). Question is how much of an energy savings would we really see upgrading to a new unit in the 14 seer range.
Our old unit is working, but we used a little better than 5900 kilowatts last month and that equals a $571 electric bill. When we bought the house we completly remoldeled, new windows and doors, new appliances, new hot water heater, low flow shower heads, front load washer, everything energy star approved...even cfl light bulbs in everything. House is 2100 sq ft and snow doesn't melt off the roof unless the sun does it. So is this old heat pump killing me or what?? Any suggestions??
