I was almost done at wokr today and was gonna suck the machine coolant out of one of the machiens I run, then fill the tank back up tomorrow morning.
We use a portable vacume that is powered by shop air. Throw the ball valve one way, it sucks. Cap that port and throw 2 ball valves the other way it forces the coolant out through the discharge hose. The last guy to use it left just a little bit of pressure on it, and I was the next guy to use it. I wheeled it over to my machine, and went to hook up the suction hose to it. I started to loosen the cap, when I heard a slight amount of air leaking.
By that time it was too late. The cap blew off, batheing me in old smelly machine coolant. I was between the machines so I had nowhere to go but stand there and take it. Thankfully I had my safety glasses and hat on, so I didn't get it in my eyes. Did get some up in my sinuses though. Our lathe guy heard the big realease of pressure and happened to see atleast 1/2 of the bath I got. Thankfully I had a clean sweatshirt in my locker, and a T-shirt in my car. Was soaked through to my underwear, but not much I could do there. I got the mop and bucket and mopped up my mess after changing shirts, and went home. I'll have to mop up some more that's under the machine tomorrow morning....
