My apologies up front to those who are offended by O/T posts. I know this is a tractor page; I also know there are useful answers to many non-tractor topics on this page. I'm not looking to upset anyone's applecart, only trying to solve a problem.
That being said, the problem is that I can't log on to a Windows XP machine. It was running very slowly. I wanted to do some malware scans and other maintenance. I succeeded in running Malware Bytes(original installation package, not updated) and cleared almost 400 trojans and other hijackers. A restart was required. Now, the logon screen comes up, click a username, it starts to log in, then logs off and I'm back to the list of usernames. This process takes about 10 seconds. It's the same no matter which account I try to use, and also the same in Safe Mode.
Any suggestions?
I don't think it has the recovery console installed. I'm not very familiar with recovery console commands, but could get the job done with minimal instruction.
