You don't have to format the drive - just install Windows to a new sub-directory (the original was probably C:windows), and all your old files should still be out there.
Install Windows, then install your antivirus and then scan the entire drive - then you can rebuild the rest of your applications and move your files from the old locations into your new user subdirectories...
