I was an automobile mechanic in the 60s and 70s. GMC trucks were available with virtually every engine made by GM. I worked on a lot that had Pontiac and Buick engines. They did not use Chevy engines. I believe I am correct that they did not use Chevy engines until the late 60s. The truck is only rarer then a Chevy truck of that year because they cost more new.
