I was coming up the lane with a ton of fertilizer and my 89 Dodge w/318 pickup just died. I checked the computer codes the which resulted in code 11 (no distributor reference signal detected during cranking).
I have no spark coming out of the coil. I have cracked the fuel line under the frame and no fuel pressure. It has a in tank fuel pump and is throttle body fuel injected.
The Chilton manual says if the auto shutdown relay (ASD) is tripped by the electronic ingition control box that the fuel pump and ingition will not work. However it doesn't state how to determine whether the ASD was tripped by bad fuel pump, bad distributor pickup or faulty brain box.
This pickup has a long history of burning up fuel pumps (approx. 4). Does anyone have any suggestions for determining which parts are faulty without replacing them each willie nillie.
