The only place I have seen tobacco last more than 3 years, a guy up the road rised it on an old hog lot for about ten years. Worked out for him. With spartin and command I start to see a down turn on mine after 3 years with dark tobacco. I try not to go back with tobacco more than 2 years and have hay/pasture for at least 6. While it was not an option years ago, with the burly types they have now you have got some shank resistance. The seed people have not been able to breed a dark that will hold up to shank. If my living depended on a dark crop, I would not sleep good knowing that I had tobacco in the same spot more than 3 years. Seen too many people get burnt, may take 5 to 7 years to bite hard. People will have a few plants die this year and not even cut into them to see whats going on and next year get a lot of rain and half thier plants are dead. How's the crop your way George? Here is mostly good, just need'n a rain pretty bad. Dave
