One major factor in housing prices, is the availability of jobs, and the general economy of an area. My grandmother's house just sold, in a small town in La. for only 20,000 dollars. Granted, it is an older house, and needs work. But there are not many jobs in that area. On the other hand, if that house were here, it would probably have brought double or triple that price...
