Bracken is a large leaved plant which grows very rapidly on poorer soils. It will grow 5 feet high, so dense that its imposible for animals or humans to walk through. It spreads by roots and will cover the hills killing off all other plants.
They can control it by spraying - expensive & hard to do except by planes. On slopes that you can use a tractor they will cut it back by flail or rotary mower. It dies back over winter, then sends up shoots from the earth in spring.
Almost impossible to get rid of. Will try to take a photo of the plant in the spring.
