You are correct! I thought something changed,
because when I saw that the bolt was longer than an
drain pug , I retighten it and it was much tighten going
back into the housing.. I can see from your diagram
that it was pushing againist the housing. It still shifts
OK in reverse, so the 2 and 4 plate needs to be put
back inplace.

How hard is it to take the top off? Does the shifting go
back togather. Your diagram cut off the top so I can't
tell, it the top only has the the shifter rod that goes down
into the tranmission.

I have taken the top off of a WD and was able to get it
back on, but it was a bear.
