Still Mowing Ditches?

Around here I see a lot of folks are still out mowing ditches and waterways. I would think with fuel prices the way they are, mowing would slide down the list of priorities. Heck, my neighbor mows his ditches all over the area almost as often as he mows his yard. Do you still mow? Is there an advantage that I don't see to mowing? Just seems like that would be an easy place to save diesel.
