OT: Recommend a riding mower...

Our old Snapper has finally given up the ghost, and so we're looking to buy a new riding mower in the next few weeks. We're looking for a mow-only machine (no plowing or pulling) with at least a 40+ inch cut. Our price range is between $1500 and $2000. We'll need something that can make a decent turn. I'm asking for your advice because the market is very complicated at the moment. I know manufacturers are marketing under various names, and that Lowe's, Home Despot, etc. sometimes sell the same product re-branded. Any help you can offer will be much appreciated. I would really like to avoid buying a piece of junk!
