OT- Changing oil brands

I"ve heard if I change the kind of oil in my pickup it will ruin the engine. It"s had Penzoil in it for a long time, and I"d like to go back to Motorcraft.

It"s a 1995 Ford F150 4x4. 302cu V8.

The engine has a vacuum problem, had it since we bought it from the original owner 5 years ago, we"ve put 66,000 miles on it since. It"s carboned up some, the guy who had it was an older gentleman who didn"t let his foot go.

The engine runs great, and the milelage is OK. I just want to stop using Penziol, Dad always said Penziol was junk.
