Farmall 400--6or 12 volt

I bought a Farmall 400 about 3 yrars ago and it had a 12 volt battery in it and nothing had been converted on the tractor.I have been told that all the 400's were 6 volt and were positive ground.I have been using this tractor with a 12 volt battery for 2 years connected negative ground, Anyone have any information on this--al bane
