we have and '89 ranger and have no engine probelms with it or any probelms for that matter. i use it quite a bit to pull my 1950 jd b on a car trailer and it doesnt seem short of power. but its starting to leak quite a bit around the oil pan. but that'll be a project for a rainy day. i have never heard of any engine probelms on the new rangers.
