While I usually let these political post pass unnoticed because they only cause arguing I must comment on your post. The electoral college was set up to stop large states from running the union. While the majority in one state could vote for one person and their college could vote for someone else I do not think that has ever happened. The college for a state has always followed the vote of that states people as far as I know. As far as a majority of the people in the US voting one way and the college voting another way that is why it was set up in the first place. It may not be perfect but it is our system. With out crunching the numbers lets say a candidate said what the people of NY; FL; CA; and TX wanted to hear. They could then get a 99% of the vote from these states and 0% from the other states and still win. I do not want the same things as some one in CA and NY. In fact most of rural America does not. The college allows the people in rural America to have a voice by stopping this. In other words it does not matter if you get 51% or 100% of the votes in a state you still get the same number of votes. This stops the people from large states from getting together and running the country. Without the college rural America would not have a vote.
