Needing a John Deere mechanic help.

I was having trouble with the three point arm picking up on my 44-30 and was going to change the transmission filter, but when i went to start it again it started right up and ran for about 5 seconds and died. so i thought i would put fuel filters in it too. But after i put the fuel filters in and tried to start the engine it wouldn't turn over at all.
Isn't the battery because the lights and guages all work when i turn the key on. So can anybody help me out on this problem??
