I was answering your post, making reference to your comment. At 3000 miles or more, I would not have a clue as to the quality/charge level/connections on your battery. Just be pretty stupid if it was something as simple as that and you dismantle the whole tractor before finding out.
Even you say 'it usually starts right up'. This alone indicates that it does not always do so, as does your problem of today.
Always start with the simple things and check out along the line until you find the inoperative link. Easier that way.
