Just personal preference here but I never, ever jump start a positive ground system or a series connection system. I always pull the batteries, put them on a charger and get them good and hot. While they are off, clean all connections. Replace and make sure they are snug and tight. As far as pull starting, I usually pull in next to highest gear, on soil or gravelso the tractor gets more traction.
