Does it have any fluid in the top box. Right rear filler plug should have at least 3.5 inches of HYTRAN type of fluid in it. There is an O ring/seal that sometimes fails and lets the lift box fluid drain into the tranny.
There is also a suction screen in right front lower corner where suction line goes to pump. btw the pump for the lift is external to the lift mechanism, mounted up on the distributor side of the engine.
There is also an orfice valve thingy in the front of the lift box that can plug up. I have a 2444/444 gasser, good little tractor.
