Yes to both. First of all, you can't use the old mag kill switch - it's a grounding switch. You can connect from battery positive, to ignition switch - from switch to coil + terminal, From coil - terminal to the post on the side of the mag distributor (points). I'm guessing since you have converted to 12V, it's a negative ground system. If it's still positive ground, reverse the connections to the coil primary terminals.
