Clues From Spark Plug Fouling

A few weeks ago I installed new spark plugs on my '55 Ferguson TO-35 Deluxe (Gas); the tractor is new to me. I've operated the tractor maybe twenty-five hours since replacing the plugs. Today I pulled the plugs to see what, if any, fouling occured. The plugs were oily with built up carbon. I cleaned the plugs and returned them to the tractor. The tractor's engine runs fairly well and is generally smoke free although it does have a small amount of white smoke when operating at a low idle. I don't work the tractor hard; only finish mowing and that at low speeds - sometimes in High 2 on the long and flat runs. Would you agree that the oil & carbon on the plugs points to oil leaking into the cylinders but the absence of smoke suggests the leakage isn't bad? Does it make sense to use a "hot" spark plug to burn the oil? If yes, does anyone recommend a specific plug? Almost forgot, right now I'm operating the tractor using synthetic oil for the purpose of "bathing" the inner engine components (a technique recommended by a mechanic and validated by local MF Rep.). I'll replace the synthetic with 10W 30 soon. Is it likely the plug fouling might stop if I switch to natural, heavier oil? Would it help to disconnect the mower and run the tractor in High 3 now and then? Jim
