Dual wheels are used to increase flotation, and traction in conditions where the tractor might sink in or soil compaction is a problem. Of course, the additional tires, wheels, and possibly ballast will increase tractor weight. Wheel weights and ballast are used to increase traction, by increasing downpressure (weight) on the tires. Front suitcase weights add weight to the front of the tractor. This is useful if rear mounted impliments are heavy enough to over-balance the weight of the front of the tractor. If your tractor has draft control, the front weights may help with traction, but it is probably more important to put the weight where the "rubber meets the ground" - on the drive wheels. Any one got a better explanation?
