Allison transmission question

I found a 1980's chevy C-60 truck with a allison transmission, it is bolted to a 350 motor. My question is this a good transmission? I would like to put this trans in my pickup for hauling my tractors and for snow plowing. The truck only has 70000 miles trans has 4 speeds foward . The motor had a small carb fire. I can buy the truck at a reasonable price.
