If its' a four speed ,it will likely be a model 540. It is a good transmission, but they shift a little rough (solid) compared to a regular pick-up trans. They are also relatively easy to overhaul. They are also made for a pto drive. I have a neighbor that has four older Ford cabover tandems with 3208 Cats in them. One has the 540 and the other three have the 650s'. They haul lots of big loads of potatoes out of the field(from the digger) and they don't seem to give much trouble.
