How LITTLE anti-freeze can I use?

My tractors are JD 40s with thermo-syphon cooling
(no water pump). I've been interested in the
postings about poor cooling, and the suggestion
that the higher viscosity of anti-freeze impedes
circulation. The recommendation is to cut back on
the usual 50-50 mix to have less anti-freeze in
the cooling solution.

Somewhere I remember hearing that as little as 10%
anti-freeze will prevent solid freezing which
would crack a block or burst a radiator. If my
ojjective is to just prevent bursting something,
