It only makes sense to mix the antifreeze to the manufacturer's recommendation for the temperature in your area. Anything else is throwing dice. In addition, I have found that sometimes, the "off" or "no name" brands are not dependable to protection listed on the label. I bought some cheap stuff 1 1/2 years ago and mixed it 2:1 for our cold weather and when I tested it, it was far from what it said it would do. Make sure you test it after mixing it in a pail before putting it in the tractor.
