A question for the YT DOT.
I want to tie down something to a trailer and be legal. Its a wood crate; it's a tractor; it's a bag of feathers. You choose because it really does not make a difference I can see.
I am trying to figure what is the load limit of my chain and binders. I have 3/8 grade 70 chain that the manufacture says has a rating of 6600 lbs. My binders; tie down location on trailer and tie location on freight are all rated at 7000 lbs. So my weak link is my chain rated at 6600 lbs.
So a 2 part question.
In part 1 I will go from the trailer frame rail to the freight or from the frame rail to the freight and back to the frame rail on the same side of the trailer. Such as this.....
What would my chain be rated for in this situation?
Part 2 I will take the chain and go from the frame rail on one side of the trailer; over the freight; to the frame rail on the other side of the trailer. Like this....
What would my chain be rated for in this situation?
