I wonder what my 4000 4 cylinder gas tractor would look like if it was brand new for 2018? There was a big discussion on YT a week or two ago about gasoline making a comeback in the less thsn 100 horse category. That got me to thinking. What if Ford built my tractor today. Would the block be cast iron or aluminum with sleeves? It would have fuel injection and electronic ignition for sure. Direct injection or throttle body? 4 spark plugs or 8? Overhead valves for sure, but what about an overhead cam? Maybe 2 cams. Hemi head? Turbo? What about a catalytic converter? Would the bore and stroke be the same as 1964? Would the engine be half the size with more RPM? Would the clutch be smaller due to less torque and more RPM? What would the compression ratio be? Regular or HiTest fuel? Would half of the cylinders kick out for fuel economy? Would the fuel economy rival a diesel? How many hours do suppose it would last? What about cost compared to a diesel with all of the DEF and particulate filter? I bet all of the manufacturers are asking those questions right now. What say the YTers?

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
