Yes, you're right about the tax, and that diesels are a little more expensive to buy, BUT this is soon made up (specially with the ridiculous cost of fuel here), with lower fuel consumption, longer service intervals and greater long term reliabilty. HOWEVER, diesel has just been declared 'THE ENEMY' in UK and Europe in terms of air pollution, and diesel vehicles are about to be banned from many city centres - a complete turnaround from a few years back when the government was deliberately ENCOURAGING folks to buy diesels! We'll see what happens next.......
